I didn,t brew a lot of non-kit extraxt batches before I became an all grain brewer,
but this one I recall to be excellent. Let me know how it turns out if you brew it.

Style: 5b India Pale Ale

Ingredients for 18.9 liters:
2.5 kgs Light Dry Malt Extract (EXTRACT)
575 g Amber Dry Malt Extract (EXTRACT)
500 g American Crystal 20L (STEEP)
2 oz Northern Brewer 8.7% BOIL 60 minutes
1 oz Northern Brewer 8.7% BOIL 30 minutes
1 oz Hallertauer 3.4% FINISHING 0 minutes
1 oz Irish Moss
500 ml Wyeast 1098 British Ale
Boil Time: 60 minutes
Primary Fermentation: 4 days at 70 F
Secondary Fermentation: 4 days at 68 F
Date Started 2/10/98
Date Racked 2/14/98
Date Bottled 2/18/98

Notes:
Place crystal in 6 litres cold water, heat to 170°F, steep 40 minutes.

Steeped finishing hops for 5 minutes after boil.

Primed with 4 oz. (3/4 cup) corn sugar boiled 5 minutes in 1 cup
water to yield 2.3 volumes CO2.
